Bartın University Journal of Educational Research (BUJER) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access electronic scientific journal. 

BUJER strives to provide a platform for research that makes meaningful contributions to educational policies, practices, and professional development across diverse educational settings. The journal seeks to bridge theory and practice by presenting interdisciplinary studies that:

  • Contribute to the improvement of teaching and learning practices, both locally and globally.
  • Support the integration of technology into educational environments.
  • Address contemporary challenges in education through rigorous research methods.
  • Enhance the professional development of educators, including preservice teachers, through scholarly inquiry.

Manuscripts languages= English (with an abstract in Turkish) or Turkish  (with an extended abstract in English) 

Publication frequency= Twice a year (June and December)

First issue= 2017

A) BUJER prioritizes manuscripts that:

  1. Contribute to the development of new educational models, assessment tools, or interdisciplinary research designs,
  2. Effectively bridge theory and practice through rigorous scientific methods,
  3. Provide in-depth examinations of local policies, programs, or innovations from an international perspective,
  4. Utilize a multidisciplinary approaches,
  5. Integrate technology into learning environments,
  6. Develop or test the usability of educational measurement tools,
  7. Enhance educational practices through technology integration,
  8. Propose or evaluate new educational models, either theoretical or applied,
  9. Support the professional development of teachers or preservice teachers.

B) BUJER may not accept manuscripts that:

  1. Are unrelated to learning, teaching, or education,
  2. Contain significant language issues affecting clarity, accuracy, or coherence in English,
  3. Are solely literature reviews (excluding rigorous systematic reviews), book reviews, or conceptual papers,
  4. Present quantitative studies with only one independent variable (e.g., the effect of A on B),
  5. Lack robust data collection methods or rely solely on demographic data from an insufficient number of participants,
  6. Do not engage with recent literature,
  7. Fail to clearly explain the study's background, significance, or contribution to the field.

Submitted manuscripts undergo a preliminary review to assess their suitability regarding publication scope, writing quality, content, research methodology, and adherence to ethical guidelines. All submissions are checked for plagiarism using digital software. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's scope or quality standards may be returned to the authors without entering the peer-review process.

⚠️ Authors must follow the steps outlined on the File Submission page on DergiPark when uploading their documents:

  • Studies involving clinical or experimental treatments require ethical board approval. The ethical approval must be obtained, documented, and submitted during the file submission process. Manuscripts that do not require an ethical approval must also fill out the Ethics Exemption Form included in the submission page.
  • Manuscripts must not contain any author names, affiliations, or identifying information in the main document before submission. Author information should be uploaded separately on DergiPark.
  • All manuscripts must follow the APA 7 citation style and adhere to the Writing Rules (also the article template)

Publication Ethics
  1. Authors must ensure originality, proper citations, and ethical compliance.
  2. Ethical board approval is required for studies involving humans or animals.
  3. Manuscript submissions should not include author names and must not be under review elsewhere.
  4. Referees are responsible for assessing the manuscript objectively, confidentially, and without bias.
  5. Section editors are responsible for ensuring double-blind review, ethical compliance, and managing conflicts of interest.
  6. Manuscripts undergo plagiarism checks before peer review (maximum accepted level of similarity is 20%)

Publication Policies
  1. BUJER publishes articles only within the scope of the journal
  2. Issues are published twice a year (June & December)
  3. All articles are open-access and made available free of charge
  4. All articles are available under the CC BY-NC 4.0 License Cc_by-nc_icon.svg
  5. All articles must follow APA 7th Edition guidelines
  6. Published articles are archived in Bartın University Library and on other indexes

Publication Process
  1. Initial review: Suitability check by editor-in-chief
  2. Secretariat review: Plagiarism and document check
  3. Language review: Initial language suitability check
  4. Review process: Section editor appoints at least two referees
  5. Decision: Following the referee's feedback, the section editor makes the decision (this process differs for each manuscript)
  6. Final revisions: The manuscript is sent back to the author for final adjustments and adding personal information
  7. Layout: The manuscript is edit for publication
  8. Issue assignment: The manuscript is assigned to an issue (may be early preview)
